Let's Throw Stigma on Needing Food Stamps (More on Charles Payne's Ridiculous Comments)

Just yesterday I created a blog post about how Charles Payne from Fox News and his cronies and supporters have a completely distorted view of people who are on food stamps.

If you missed it, click the following to read, "According to Charles Payne, You Should Be Ashamed of Yourself for Being on Food Stamps."

I came across this story on the Internet and I wanted to share it with my readers.  This is the face of hunger,  the financial situation this woman is in is far more realistic when compared to Charles Payne's shockingly ridiculous example of a food stamp recipient with a $44,000 salary turning down a raise to $50,000 in order to keep getting food stamps...

This woman's story is real and something of this magnitude can happen to anyone at any time.  To all the Charles Payne's in the world I say, Wake the hell up! Not everyone has the same abilities in this life, and anyone's ability to be able to afford basic things like food can be taken away at any moment....

If Charles Payne and other idiots who think just like him had his/their way,, this woman would be made to feel bad for needing to rely on Food Stamps.

Florida Food Stamps for Sarasota Deputies (SMDH)

Lee County Sheriff, Mike Scott takes a
like it or leave it stance on the shameful situation

Well here's another one of those "wow" stories.  Lee County Florida pays their sheriff's deputies so poorly that at least 40 of them are receiving Florida Food Stamps.

According to the International Union of Police Associations, approximately 120 Lee County Sheriff's deputies actually qualify to receive Florida SNAP Benefits.

Now, I don't know, but if I lived in Sarasota, or anywhere else in Lee County, this would be totally unacceptable. The men and women in local law enforcement provide safety and security to the people within their jurisdiction.  It takes happy employees to perform their jobs well, and everyone knows that well paid employees is more than half the recipe for making happy employees... police officers are no exception to the rule.

Lee County Sheriff's deputies are led by Sheriff Mike Scott and he claims the 400 deputies in the union have not gotten any kind of raise in six years. To make matters even worse, the officers were told they would not likely see a raise any time soon.

According to some, Sheriff Mike Scott has his favorites for rewards and promotions. His only comment to the shameful situation is "If they don't like it, why do they stay?"  What kind of bs is that to say?

Some residents of Lee county claim they routinely see Lee County Deputies paying for food with Florida EBT cards all of the time, so this is not news to local residents.

The situation should be embarrasing for Sherrif Mike Scott.  Lee County Sheriffs should be paid more than a living wage, and they should not be anywhere near qualified to receive Florida Food Stamps.  The service they provide is important and vital to public safety, and the bottom line is this...they need to be paid what they're worth.

It would be interesting to know if Sheriff Mike Scott could qualify for Florida SNAP Benefits....

According to Charles Payne, You Should Be Ashamed of Yourself For Being on Food Stamps

Charles Payne from the Nazi Network (Fox News) is upset because so many people are getting food stamps.  Payne gabbed on and on about a completely unrealistic example, and then he shared a sentiment about how food stamp recipients should feel  bad about being poor and needing help to feed their families.

Charles Payne cited some utterly silly example of how food stamps is actually holding people back from getting a good job.  In his crazy scenario, Payne shares a situation where a worker would actually turn down a salary raise from $44,000 a year to $50,000 a year because his family would no longer be qualified to receive SNAP Benefits....

How realistic is that scenario? Not at all.  Most of us people who live on Earth realize that the majority of people who get food stamps are just trying to make it every day on an $8 - $12 an hour salary, which is nowhere near $44,000.

Complete and utter nonsense like Payne's example should be a strong indication for anyone with any amount of common sense and true intellect that people like him and the rest of his Fox News Cronies (and the entire Republican Party for that matter) are way out of touch with reality.

Payne wrapped it up by sharing a story about how his family was on food stamps once when he was growing up.  He then proceeded to share how he was embarrassed to be using food stamps because of the stigma attached to being on welfare back then. Payne then suggested that type of stigma should be brought back... People should literally stand in line and be ashamed of themselves for using food stamps.  But, the taker of the cake was when he proceeded to say that people who are on food stamps are not sharing the American Dream. ...

I would love to ask him how affordable that "American Dream" is to people who do not earn a living wage...because those are the people who are really on food stamps, not people who are pulling in more than $40,000 a year.  Charles Payne, a real an idiot.

Wow!  Just, Wow!  Watch the video right here:

Latest New York Food Stamps Fraud Incident Location: Monticello

It appears that the state of New York is serious about cracking down on people who misrepresent their incomes in order to get New York Food Stamps.

Ivan Martinez is a 45 year old ex parolee who lives in Monticello.  He was paroled in 2010, and since that time he has earned his keep with several jobs and unemployment.

Apparantly, at some point he applied for New York Food Stamps (NY SNAP Benefits), but he did not report all of his income to the NY Department of Social Services.

Because he failed to report his income, Martinez is facing four felony charges: first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, first degree welfare fraud, third-degree grand larceny, and misuse of food stamps.

After his arraignment, he was sent to Sullivan County Jail without bail.  This seems a little bit harsh to me, but whatever...

Martinez' grand total in fraud of New York food Stamps is a little over $3,000.

Food stamp fraud is a serious crime, please think twice before you lie to get or keep SNAP Benefits.

Healthy Food Only With South Carolina Food Stamps?

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, in a joint effort with the NC State Department of Social Services, is trying to push a measure that would limit the type of foods people can buy with South Carolina Food stamps.

Apparently, South Carolina leads the nation (with most other Southern on its tails) in having the largest amount of overweight people. The proposed measure would make it so South Carolina Food Stamps could only be utilized to purchased healthy food.

Governor Haley's intentions are to cut down the obesity rate in South Carolina. In theory, this is a good idea because we all know that obesity can lead to life threatening and expensive health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke.

However, research projects that the measure would not do enough to solve the state's obesity problems because most people who use South Carolina Food Stamps only do so to supplement their monthly grocery budget.  The theory then being SC low income residents who rely on food stamps only part of the time will still spend money on fatty and sugary foods that leads to obesity.

I say, we have to at least start somewhere...   What do you say?

Oklahoma Food Stamps Restrictions

If you are an Oklahoma Food Stamps recipient you had better think twice about sharing food stamps with those who aren't authorized in your household.

Oklahoma Republican Senator Rob Standridge and Republican Senator David Holt are pushing this new measure that would make it a misdemeanor charge to share up to $500 in Oklahoma Food Stamps, and a felony to share more.

The Oklahoma Democrats have overwhelmingly abstained to vote, and it looks like the Republicans will have their way in making it a crime to share food stamps....
