According to The Oklahoman, The Oklahoma Stated Department of Human Services has announced a change in the food stamp program (Oklahoma SNAP Benefits).
Traditionally, food stamps were issued on the first of the month, but now households will be divided into three different groups in order to receive their SNAP benefits.
If you receive Oklahoma food stamps, expect to get your EBT deposit on the first (1st), the fifth (5th) or the tenth (10th) of the month. The change will take effect starting April 1, 2011. I suspect you will be receiving a letter in the mail to tell you when you will get your benefits.
The Oklahoma Grocer's Association reported grocery stores have a hard time restocking shelves after the first of the month, so the state swooped in to help them out. Hopefully this change won't have a negative effect on food stamp recipients in the state.
