According to an article written in the Las Vegas Sun, 10% of Nevada's citizens are receiving food stamps. That percentage would put the total number of people receiving food stamps in Nevada at 238,000 residents. Further, the article states that welfare caseloads are up to 40% more than they were a year ago; the foood stamp program is not welfare, but the high number of residents recieving good stamps in Nevada coupled with the sharp increase in welfare caseloads reflect the grim situation of the economy.
