Go Vegetarian With Your Food Stamps

Did you know that you can enjoy healthy eating with your Food Stamps? Vegetarians generally have a healthier diet than those who eat meat.

If you would like to do something good for your body, why not try being a vegetarian? In addition to living a healthier lifestyle, vegetarians often spend less money on food; what better way to stretch your food stamp benefits than to cut down on expensive meats?

To start out, you might be interested in knowing which common foods can nutritionally replace meat.

1/4 cup of cooked dry beans
1 ounce of meat, poultry, or fish
1 egg
1 tablespoon of peanut butter
1/2 ounce of nuts of seeds

All of the foods listed will count as meat ounce equivalents, and they are all eligible to be purchased with food stamps. For more information on vegetarian living, click here.
