Expedited food stamps (SNAP benefits) is the name of a process where low income families are given food stamps within 7 days from the date of their application. Eligibility rules include the following:
- Your household’s income is less than $150 per month and your household’s assets are less than $100 (assets include cash that you have on hand and the money in your bank account).
- Your rent and utilities are more than your monthly income before deductions OR
- You are a migrant seasonal farm worker and your household’s cash and money in the bank is less than $100.
If none of these situations apply, you may receive Food Stamps within 30 days of the date you apply for government aid.
Unfortunately, during these tough economic times, many low income families and individuals will have no problem proving that their rent, utilities, and other expenses are more than the money they make.
My son lost his job. He is homeless, cashless, and had to move in with us. He applied for expedited food stamps and was told he did not qualify. What pisses me off is migrant alien workers from Mexico can come to the States and get emergency food stamps. There is something bad wrong with this picture. My son paid taxes. Migrant workers pay NO taxes.

DeleteActually illegal Mexicans do pay taxes. FYI! Also they work more than 40 hours a week doing hard labor in the sun for like $100 a week. Your son can get a job.

DeleteRepublicans that try to make it harder for the small amount of people who abuse it just end up hurting the people that really need it
